STGCC 2014 Spotlight: The super bandwagon

Everyone wants a piece of that Hot Toys success. Play Imaginative jumped in last year with a new line of die-cast figures called Super Alloy and this year, we see new players emerging. Detailing, exclusivity and a high price point have come to define this genre of toy collectibles. These movie tie-ins wisely ride the popular waves and Ironman is the biggest cashcow of all superheroes. There's at least 1 Ironman in the lineup. Here's taking a quick look at STGCC 2014 offerings:

Hot Toys (F3)

Say byebye to queues!
Love them or hate them, these insanely popular 1/6 figures get a lot of attention. All convention exclusives have been sold out via lottery conducted in Aug.

Pre-order prices (in SGD) available: Iron Man Mark III $379.90 (retail: $409.90), Guardians of the Galaxy $289.90 (retail $329.90), Transformers Optimus Prime (Starscream version) $419.90 ($449.90), Back to the Future Marty Mcfly $289.90 (retail: $319.90)

Kinetiquettes (AA6)

To their credit, they are doing a Street Fighter collectible. No Ironman here and though technically, not a superhero, I love Ryu enough to include a mention here. Standing at 12" with a rather impressive base, this official Capcom product will take away $350USD of your budget.

 XM Studios (E21)

Watch out, we're coming for your monies
If you think Hot Toys were expensive, you've got another thing coming. A local producer of premium collectible statues, XM Studios starts with a friendly $799.90SGD tag. Fans who missed out on Captain America and Magneto have a chance of scoring them at STGCC.

Catch Suheryanto Hatmaja (Magneto and Mark 7 Sculptor), Martin Augusta (Wolverine Sculptor), Mufizal (Captain America, Black Widow Sulptor and Founder of HMO) at the booth for an opportunity to get your pieces signed!

 Imaginarium Art (H9)

Not much is known about this brand new arm of Toyntoys (a distributing company at China Square) but this producer of 1:4, 1:2 and 1:1 scale products definitely tips the scale with Ironman Mark 42 and Ironman Mark 17, costing $1648 and $1800SGD respectively. (both 1:2 scaled)

Planet of the Apes
This was taken from their Facebook page and hopefully we see drastic improvements to monkey Thor or I'm glad that they limit all their releases to 448 pieces. Catch 8 previews at their booth!
